Help with fees

Check what you could claim.

Eligible families may be able to use childcare support schemes towards qualifying after school and holiday childcare at Gateways. What you can claim depends on the scheme rules, your circumstances and the sessions being booked.

Universal Credit childcare support

Help towards eligible childcare costs

Eligible families receiving Universal Credit may be able to claim back up to 85% of qualifying childcare costs, subject to the scheme's conditions and limits.

Parents normally pay their provider and report costs through their Universal Credit account. We can provide invoices, payment records and registration details for a claim. The official guidance also explains when help with upfront costs may be available.

Tax-Free Childcare

Using your childcare account to pay for qualifying sessions

We accept Tax-Free Childcare payments for qualifying childcare sessions. For eligible families, the government adds £2 for every £8 paid into a childcare account, up to the scheme limits. Higher limits may apply for eligible disabled children.

Please contact us to confirm the booking and provider payment details before arranging a payment through your account.

Childcare vouchers

An option for families already using a voucher scheme

We accept childcare vouchers for qualifying childcare, subject to arrangements with your voucher provider. Let us know which provider you use so we can confirm payment details.

Childcare voucher schemes are closed to new applicants. Families who remain eligible under an existing scheme may be able to continue using them.

Choosing the right support

Check the options for your circumstances

Tax-Free Childcare cannot be used at the same time as Universal Credit or childcare vouchers. Use the official guidance and calculator to compare the options before making changes to an existing claim or scheme.

Which sessions can be covered

Childcare and tuition are charged separately

These schemes support qualifying childcare costs. Compulsory education costs are not covered by Tax-Free Childcare. Please check the specific booking with us and the relevant scheme; Ofsted registration does not make every education or tuition charge eligible.

We can explain the childcare element of a booking and any separate tuition charges so that you can check what support applies.

HAF-funded school holiday places are available through Gateways Explorers for eligible children, subject to programme availability. See our Gateways Explorers page for details and booking information.
